I am an archaeologist, or was for the first (almost) 20 years of my post-doctorate career. I write mainly about Near Eastern archaeology and bones. I’m also an assistant editor for the Journal of Eastern Mediterranean Archaeology and Heritage Studies. I have worked at the Smithsonian, two campuses of the University of Alabama, and for two private archaeology firms.

I’m an environmental archaeologist and zooarchaeologist working in the Mediterranean broadly and particularly on the Sardinian Bronze Age. I received my PhD in anthropology and classical archaeology from the University of Michigan in 2013, and I’m currently a Research Assistant Professor at the University at Buffalo.

I teach my students a wide range of topics relating to the antiquity of the Near/Middle East, of which my favourite ones are religion (Pagan, Jewish, Christian) and the material testimonies as well as ceramics reflecting the daily activities and needs of people.

I’m at Akko as a communications expert. I build websites, write books and dabble in photography and video making. In London, where I live with my daughter, Kate and a golden retriever called Milly, I own a publishing company called Fernro Publishing Ltd. I’m a survivor of the marketing and advertising industry. Having spent many years living in Africa, I am now associated with rhino conservation through Project Rhino, a charity dedicated to saving the rhino and other endangered species. My first novel is called Motohuma the Firehead, and is set in what was once Rhodesia, and is now Zimbabwe.
I work on photogrammetry, a form of digital 3D modeling, for Tel Akko and our regional survey. In previous years, I have worked on other aspects of this project including artifact registration, pottery processing, and database entry. At home in Connecticut, I’m a high school student at Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy. My main interests –besides Akko – are math and the arts.

I’m a Classics professor at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, and have participated in archaeological projects in Greece, Turkey, Italy, the United States, and Israel. My scholarly interests focus on Classical art and archaeology, especially pottery. At Akko, I’m part of the team that processes and studies ceramics found during the excavations. One of our site’s names is Tell el-Fukhar (Potsherd Hill), which gives some indication of how busy we are.

I’ve worked on the Tel Akko Total Archaeology project since 2010. My role with the project is as a GIS expert and stratigrapher. I draw the plans and sections for the excavations and work intensively with the field documentation. I work with Akko material all year round.
