Figurine face

Figurine face

This little figurine face turned up today after laying in the earth of Tel Akko since the late Iron Age, the period of the divided monarchy in biblical times. She was made in a mould, and is typical of small figurines that were used for household religious practices. She may have been holding her pregnant belly like similar figurines, and scholars think that it may have been women who used this type of figurine in households, rather than in public places of worship.

I'm an author, a publisher (Fernro Publishing), an ex-advertising agency owner and Creative Director, a mother and a grandmother. I only do things I really want to do now - building Tel Akko's website with you was one of them.
